Next Team is Coming

It is now Sunday evening and well after dark.  As I sit here it is 54 degrees and we all have jackets on.  Amazing this is only a few degrees from the Equator...

Last evening we enjoyed a time of fellowship in the home of the Cropsy's, where we sang and worshiped together.  Alan, who is on a regular worship band in his church, played guitar along with one of the missionary women who is an accomplished pianist.

We visited the Kirundi language church this morning.  We enjoyed listening to the African worship music.  Often the singers start singing and then the guitarist and keyboardist have to figure out what key they are singing in to accompany them.  Guitars are often a little out of tune, but the voices take over and it is just a joy to hear them sing something that we may know, like Count Your Blessings, even though we never knew there were fifteen verses of the song at a minimum...  One of the songs we caught a small amount of English words, but otherwise we just listened, as we do not recognize the tunes.  After the offering time we exited the church, as the sermon would be totally unintelligible.  But it is really neat to think that God can understand every language all at the same time, and when we are in eternity we will also understand every tongue and language.

We divided up between three different missionary homes for lunch, and had some very enjoyable conversation.  Again, we are deeply impressed with the spirit and attitude of the doctors who are making a difference here in Burundi.

Our next team addition of nine members has already arrived in the airport in Bujumbura.  Tom and Caleb left right after lunch to go there to pick them up and take them to King's Conference Center for the night.  They will be leaving in the morning to come here and we expect to see them around or after the noon hour tomorrow.  As we did ot have any problems getting our luggage and tools through Customs, we are hopeful that their experience has been or is being the same.  We will report on that in tomorrow's post.

There is still some sickness among some of us, so we would appreciate your prayers on our behalf.

  1. Our prayers are with you! Heavenly Father, thank you for salvation through your Son, Jesus Christ. In Your name, and through the Holy Spirit, we ask you for health, safety, wisdom, and strength for each worker with I-Tec. Lord, according to Psalm 91, we declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper! On this basis of being purchased with the blood of the Lamb, we come boldly before your throne and ask that You grace us to come into full agreement with the intercession of the Holy Spirit for this day. Just as you decreed victory for Jacob as recorded in Psalm 44:3-8, we ask this day that you decree victory for the I-Tec project in Burundi. We join with You in saying to all cosmic forces that would subvert intercession, “The Lord rebuke you, the Lord rebuke you!" Jude 8-10. We give You thanks, Lord Jesus, Amen
